Akron-Youngstown Spring Rally 2016
23 women and 2 pastors enjoyed the Akron-Youngstown Spring Rally, April 16, at Redeemer Lutheran church in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. Our Zone counsellor, Pastor Ryan Honeycutt, lead a Communion worship service based on the theme, Surrendering To A Living God, based on Psalm 139: 23, 24. Each attendee was given a wooden palm cross to hold as they pray and meditate on God's Word. We collected Mites, tissues and copy paper for Lutheran Memorial School (one of our zone members works there) and cereal and tuna for Victory Lutheran in Youngstown. For Human Care our hands were busy folding and tying plastic bags for the first stage of making mats for the homeless, and sorting and packaging crayons for children in Honduras. At the business meeting, Jeanie Dinehart from Faith, Kent was elected VP, and Bev Povec from Redeemer, Austintown, was elected treasurer.
Search me God, and know my heart, test me, and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way I me and lead me in the way everlasting. Psalm 139:23,24

Akron-Youngstown Zone – Ohio District Convention 2016
27 members of the Akron-Youngstown Zone attended the 2016 Ohio District Convention in Cincinnati. With the theme, "It Only Takes A Spark," they were each illuminated by God's Word to let their light shine daily for our Savior, Jesus Christ, as they serve Him. One of the highlights that touched their hearts was the ministry of the comfort dogs of Lutheran Church Charities. Tim Hetzner, president of this organization, was the key note speaker who shared pictures and stories of their purpose and service as they (the people and dogs) travel to the sites of tragedy to help and comfort those who are physically and emotionally injured. At the close of the convention, they left with a "spark" in their hearts to share the Gospel message, to serve the Lord with gladness, and to collect Mites for the $92,500 voted on for Mission Grants.
