At the synodical convention in 1962, the Central District, LCMS requested this district be divided into two districts - the Indiana District and the Ohio District . Their request was approved. Following this lead, at the LWML Central District LWML convention (President, Meta Kruekcheberg) also became two districts - Indiana and Ohio. In convention in Cincinnati, Ohio, on July 16, 1964, with 403 attending, the LWML Ohio District was formed.
At its first meeting, bylaws were adopted and officers were elected:
