LWML Ohio DistrictIn The Word:
This is he who came by water and blood-Jesus Christ; not by the water only but by the water and the blood. And the Spirit is the one who testifies, because the Spirit is the truth. For there are three that testify: the Spirit and the water and the blood; and these three agree.
1 John 5:6-8

St. Luke Ladies Prayer Breakfast:
February 20th St. Luke LWML ladies hosted their annual LWML prayer breakfast.  There were twentyone women from several different churches in attendance.  The program was written by Pastor John Heckmann, LWML Pastoral Counselor.  It centered around the tools God uses to sow, nourish, and reap a bountiful harvest now and for eternity.  Decorations carried out this theme - first the tools to prepare the ground, then seeds for planting, items for nourishing the plants, vegetables that were harvested, and canned food items.  As they worked through the service, participants discussed different ways they had sown, nourished, and reaped a bountiful harvest to further God’s kingdom.  Not only did they talk about ways it worked well but also not so well.  The discussion time was used to encourage one another and to share how God has used them or someone else to bring the lost and erring into eternal fellowship with Him.
They listened to a song “Give Me Your Eyes” by Brandon Heath recommended by Pastor Heckmann.  This song contains a prayer in which the singer is asking God to give me Your eyes so I can see everything I keep missing.  In other words help me to be aware of the needs around me.

Health Kits for Africa:
Ladies of St. Luke Lutheran Church in Wauseon, Ohio learned of a local nurse who made several mission trips each year.  She told of the need for reusable feminine care kits.  They decided to make this an on going mission project.  The first set, of fifty kits, was happily received by young women in a Uganda village.   The ladies had two group work days and many individual hours of cutting, sewing, attaching snaps, and finally packing the finished product into bags that were sewn for each kit.  They have now started working on the next set. Included are pictures of Young Women in Uganda who received their feminine care kits from the Northwest Ohio nurse missionary.

Haiti Mission Project

Mission Service to the People of Haiti
(Submitted by Jeanie Schlueter)

An ongoing mission project has connected two congregations in Ohio.  St. Mark Lutheran Church in Chesterland, east of Cleveland (Northeast Zone), and St. Luke Lutheran Church in Wauseon, west of Toledo (Napoleon Zone), are two Ohio congregations working together to serve God's people in Haiti.  In this picture Jackie Rychell of St. Mark Lutheran Church is delivering feminine care kits to women in the mountain area of Haiti. The personal feminine care kits were sewn by women from St. Luke Lutheran Church.  This is an ongoing project for both churches. Jackie is president of Ministry in Missions which is an ongoing short term ministry to Haiti. St. Luke members continue to make kits so they will have some ready for the next mission trip.  More information about this ministry can be found at www.ministryinmission.org.
